The employers’ federation for the offshore oil and gas industry in Britain recently came to an agreement with the oil workers’ unions to end the use of blacklisting in the sector. They acknowledged that it had been going on since the inception of the offshore industry in the 1970s.

Natwest used to keep political information on its clients

The Burke Group has been involved in a series of union busting campaigns in the UK since 2001, involving major employers including Amazon, Calor Gas, T-Mobile and Virgin Atlantic Airlines. When GPMU tried to organise Amazon workers it ran into a TBG counter campaign it claimed was “the most aggressive campaign it had ever encountered and accused management of sacking a union activist and committing other unfair practices.”

 

Companies using Private Intellegence companies to spy on activists:

Threat Response International (agent: Evelyn Le Chêne)  gathered info and ran a database on tens of 1000s of activists including names, addresses, national insurance numbers and health. Used by British Aerospace, Group 4 and others.  Linked to Risk and Crisis Analysis, R&CA Publications (registered in Rochester) Adrian Franks (Evelyn's son) also involved as was a Martin Hogbin. Barrie Gane was also part of Threat Response - also worked for Group 4 and was a deputy head of MI6
